Programming Multi-Purpose Keys

Each phone set has twenty one (21) Multi-Purpose keys. These keys can be programmed for a number of functions including “Speed Dial” and line monitoring or Busy Lamp Field (BLF).

The BLF function gives users the ability to see if a team member is on or off their phone. A green BLF indicates that the user is not on their phone. A red BLF indicates that the user is on the phone.

The process to program these keys is as follows:

  1. Press the Menu soft-key when the phone is idle. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Features tab. Depress the “Ok” button to access the features menu. Use the arrow keys and select  DSSkeys.
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the desired Line Key to start programming. Please note, Line Key 1-4 should not be changed, please start programming at Line Key  5.
  3. Select the desired DSSkey.
  4. The first line item associated with line key programming is Type. Users can choose between two (2) programming modes for the “Type” including  Speed Dial or BLF by using the arrow keys on the handset.
  5. The user will then Label the Multipurpose Key select with a description of what has been programmed (i.e.) the name or functional department to be associated with the programming.
  6. The last piece is to enter a Value. This would be the telephone number or internal extension number associated with the programming. If a telephone number is entered please enter area code and the seven digit numbers. Please note no spaces or dashes should be entered for a telephone number.
  7. (Optional) For enabling directed call pickup functionality, enter *87 in the **Extension* field when programming a BLF key. This allows you to answer calls ringing on the monitored extension by pressing the BLF key.
  8. Press Save to accept the change.
